Friend, I know life can be hard, and people can hurt us or let us down. It’s normal to feel angry, bitter, or even want to pull away. But here’s the good news: faith doesn’t take away your feelings—it gives you a better way to live, even when it’s tough. Faith changes how we treat others from the inside out, not because we have to, but because God’s love changes our hearts.
Faith changes us first
When we trust God, we realize He loves us—not because we’re perfect, but because He’s good. That love softens our hearts. We stop seeing others as enemies or annoyances and start seeing them as people God loves too.
The Bible says:
- Galatians 5:6 – “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” Faith without love is empty. Real faith shows up in how we treat people.
- Ephesians 4:32 – “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” God forgave you freely—so you can forgive others too.
- Luke 6:31 – “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” This is the Golden Rule. Faith makes us live it, not just hear it.
What this looks like every day (simple, real steps)
You don’t need big words or grand gestures. Faith works in small, daily choices:
- When someone is rude – Instead of snapping back, pause. Say a quiet prayer. Choose kindness, even if they don’t deserve it.
- When you’re hurt – Don’t hold a grudge. Forgive—not for them, but for your peace. God will handle the rest.
- When you see someone left out – Smile. Say hello. Sit with them. Small acts of inclusion matter more than you think.
- When you have more than you need – Share. Give a meal, a listening ear, or a little money. Generosity breaks selfishness.
- When you disagree – Listen first. Speak gently. Don’t insult. Aim for peace, not winning an argument.
A soft, simple prayer
God, thank You for loving me even when I’m hard to love. Help me see others the way You see them—with kindness, grace, and patience. When I want to be mean or give up, remind me of Your love. Teach me to love others well, not because they earn it, but because You first loved me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
